Really off the beaten path. Most remote state park in Texas. Great place to launch a kayak into the devil's river or go for a mountain bike ride.
Beautiful and remote park. The dirt road is easily traversable until you get to the park entrance at the last 3 miles. Then it's a bit rocky, but doable in most cars. The campsites are primitive and isolated from each other. Friendly staff. Remember to leave no trace.
I Love and respect this place. Last wild river in Texas. Let's support the owners and the state as they work to protect the river while still allowing the public to visit it.
I was the only person there all afternoon. About 23 miles off the paved highway if I recall correctly. Dead quiet, no traffic, airplane or people sounds. The Devil's River is the cleanest water in the state. No services and not for everyone, but beautiful none the less.
Some of the most beautiful natural settings I've seen in Texas. Not as extreme or intense as areas of big bend or Mckittrick canyon. It's unlike any other place I've been in Texas. I'm a landscaper and irrigator. I've never seen so many species of native plants that we use all in one place
